Burning Man 2009!

I finally went to Burning Man! I never really thought I would go. It was SOOOO interesting and SOOOO wonderful. I really hope I can go again. I love making costumes; this has changed my entire approach to it. This beats Halloween by far!

These pictures are of Tammy and me wearing some of the masks we've made. They are all leather except the rainbow monster which is plaster bandage and fun fur. Too hot for the desert!

I drew the bug creature while listening to H.P. Lovecraft audio books. What a weird dude. I like that those stories are older than pop culture and aren't influenced by it. There seems to be a "language" to character design these days, mostly copying what came before. I'm no different.

Life drawing

It's a rare occasion nowadays that I get to go to life drawing classes. The guy that runs this class mostly hires pretty girls. Creepo.

I discovered Imaginism Studios yesterday. Holee! What an inspiring bunch of people. Another great place that is helping me find new direction is Conceptart.org. I really dig the internet I must say.
I want to grow artistically, but I need to choose a path already. But first I REALLY need to make some cash. Cripes. Life is cruel.

bohemian waxwings

I did this as quick as i could for christmas cards. I pretty much copied this from some photos. As usual i'm really late getting started giving a shit about Christmas so i'll just make it a New Year's card. New Years is more fun anyway. How is this for scummy? I haven't even sent a card to anyone but i'm posting it on my blog!

Bohemian Waxwings are really abundant in Golden, BC in the winter. They fly around in big flocks that increase in size throughout the winter. They eat old ash tree berries. They come to my yard a lot. Lucky me!

Beheaded!

Another doodle that actually went somewhere. If i'd known I was going to be drawing a minotaur, I would have made him more cow-like. He shouldn't have eyes on the front of his head I suppose. That's my greatest weakness when it comes to drawing. I find it hard to plan shit. Much of my work is nothing more than an accident. I'm a-working on improving that situation. Yup.

Also, I want the internet to know that i really hate Xmas. Or Exessmas like my sister calls it. I'm trying to be grumpy but my everyone keeps doing nice things for me! Stop it already! Let me be a cermudgen. Cripes.
